We had a great time celebrating the 4th of July at our store, Clever Bear, in Monrovia!
We've had such a fun time in Old Town Monrovia this 4th of July! If you've never been to this adorable town, you're in for a treat. A true walking neighborhood with buildings dating back to the 1800s, and Victorians and Craftsman style homes are dotted all over the area. Myrtle Ave is our historic "main street" and we have an active Street Fair and Farmer's Market Friday nights, year round.
Our 4th celebration includes a huge fireworks show behind the library on the evening of the holiday. Families start laying out out blankets, lawn chairs and tents to reserve a spot on the lawn in front of the library at 6am! By mid-morning most of the lawn was already covered. Chairs line the entire street. The residents of the retirement home on Myrtle get VIP reserved seating right in front of the park. With dozens of amazing restaurants, not to mention the boba shops and boutiques, friends start milling around early in the day- I loved seeing everyone's creative outfits, especially the kids. Patriotic unicorn headbands- fashion yes!
The owners of the toy store that used to be located up the street from us, Dollmaker's Kattywampus, are still in the area. More about them in a future post! The ladies came by to let us know that we absolutely had to carry bubble guns for Independence Day, so that's just what we did.
We had a blast all day with kids playing with bubbles, hula hoops, our light up spinners and more. Can't wait to do it again in 2024!
